Asia Argento is now threatening to sue Rose McGowan over her recent comments about Argento’s alleged sexual assault of an underage boy.
“Dear @RoseMcGowan. It is with genuine regret that I am giving you 24 hours to retract and apologise for the horrendous lies made against me in your statement of August 27th,” Argento tweeted on Monday morning. “If you fail to address this libel I will have no option other than to take immediate legal action.”
Argento is referring to a statement Rose McGowan made after allegations of sexual abuse against Argento became public.
McGowan said in part, “I received a phone call and series of messages from the being I’ve been dating- Rain Dove. They said that they had been texting with Asia and that Asia had revealed that she had indeed slept with Jimmy Bennet.”
She continued, “Rain also shared that Asia had stated that she’d been receiving unsolicited nudes of Jimmy since he had been 12. Asia mentioned in these texts that she didn’t take any action on those images. No reporting to authorities, to the parents, or blocking of Jimmy’s social media.”
McGowan famously ended her statement by saying, “Be the person you wish Harvey could have been.”
Asia Argento paid Jimmy Bennet $380,000 after he claimed she sexually assaulted him when he was 17 years old. Argento issued a strong denial and says she was “deeply shocked” by the report and called the allegations “absolutely false.”
